Enzo Biochem [ENZ] has been one of the hottest biotechs in recent weeks--doubling its price since late May. The sudden interest in the biotech is based on its oral treatment for Hepatitis B, EHT899. Currently in phase II trials, the latest rumor is that Enzo will ink a deal with GlaxoWellcome [GLX] for Hepatitis B drug distribution.

Hepatitis B affects approximately 2bn people worldwide, 350m of which have a chronic strain. The importance of this drug for Enzo cannot be underestimated. A partnership with Glaxo would provide the creditability and financing needed for the company’s next step.
